Not my kind of start to a new day. I mean, went to bed early, slept reasonably well. But then a Windows-related application restart failure leading to customer and, subsequently, management anxiety. I could call it a learning experience – for learning yet another reason Windows is a piece of shit operating system, that is. But it's more another nudge in the direction of jumping off this employment shift into – by comparison with Windows fuckery – the relatively safe shark-filled waters of cobbling together useful income in contracting role, and just laugh hysterically whenever encountering anyone that wants to make something serious happens in that for-shit environment.

In a way I'm surprised anyone could have thought that being so much more in touch with what others are thinking could be a good thing. I mean, the only way that could work/happen is if not all mental were illness. But it clearly is. I mean shit, man/woman/etc., isn't that basically what we're intimating when talking about purely conceptual “things”, um, “going viral”? I mean, we're fucking literally calling such viruses, some definitions thereof including:

• “venom”
• the causative agent of an infectious disease
• any of a large group of submicroscopic infective agents that are regarded either as extremely simple microorganisms or as extremely complex molecules, that typically contain a protein coat surrounding an RNA or DNA core of genetic material but no semipermeable membrane, that are capable of growth and multiplication only in living cells, and that cause various important diseases in humans, lower animals, or plants
• a disease or illness caused by a virus
• something that poisons the mind or soul
• a computer program that is usually hidden within another seemingly innocuous program and that produces copies of itself and inserts them into other programs and usually performs a malicious action (as destroying data)
• any of numerous serotypes of three enteroviruses that are associated with or cause human disease (as hand, foot and mouth disease and some forms of meningitis)
• any of the infectious agents that pass through a filter of diatomite or unglazed porcelain with the filtrate and remain virulent and that include the viruses as presently understood and various other groups (as the mycoplasmas and rickettsias) which were originally considered viruses before their cellular nature was established

Anyone else out there having trouble finding anything good in those definitions?

Yeah, I once thought that way. Then I chanced upon maximizing good enough, which for me consisted of noting that using earpods conducive to being deeper in my ear canals dramatically improved the low end, which was far and away what needed the most help.
